Joséphine,
empress of the arts and passionate about botany

“Joséphine de Beauharnais”, beyond her famous imperial marriage, nurtured two passions: one for art, the other for botany.

Thanks to innumerable commissions from the greatest creators of the time (painters, cabinetmakers, jewellers, decorators…) she built up an invaluable collection and encouraged the development of artists who are reference points today. The room dedicated to her at the Domaine de Prin is a tribute to this eternal ambassador of French taste.

Another meeting point with our guest rooms in Champagne is Joséphine’s passion for botany and for nature in the broadest sense. Joséphine helped introduce many floral species to France, including plants of subtropical origin. The collections of the Château de la Petite Malmaison, nurtured by Josephine’s will, have been a treasure for French nurserymen. She also organised a real menagerie at the Malmaison, which served as an observatory for the teachers of the National Museum of Natural History.

The Joséphine bedroom

At the Domaine de Prin, the past happily combines with modernity and comfort in discreet luxury for a stay full of pleasure and tranquillity. This characteristic guest house benefits from a refined decoration combining the charm of the old with more contemporary elements.

In imperial shades of gold and white, the Josephine room is a tribute to the eternal ambassador of French taste. This room combines contemporary comfort with decorative elements, furniture and accessories in a nod to the excellence of the 19th century. Our guest rooms in the heart of the Champagne region are a reflection of what she has built at the Château de la Malmaison: the harmonious association of art and nature.

Although our park has neither llamas nor tropical trees, it is home to majestic deer, fraternal equines, and some of the most beautiful species of our Champagne forests.

From the warmth of your room or from your terrace you can also watch the swans, herons and wild ducks that love to wander around the ponds below.
